EM Normandie Foundation
The Siegfried legacy
Julie and Jules Siegfried both worked to improve the living conditions of the working classes, each in their own way:
Jules Siegfried, after founding the school that would become EM Normandie in 1871 in Le Havre, went on to pursue a career in politics, first at local level and then as a member of the French parliament for 31 years. During his career, he built secular schools, public libraries and even a grammar school for girls. His second priority was hygiene, for which he campaigned ardently. Jules Siegfried's major achievements in this field included the construction of dispensaries, shower baths and a municipal hygiene office.
Julie Siegfried, for her part, fought for women's rights through a wide range of actions, including building hostels, welcoming women workers to the city and even fighting hard for women's right to vote.
The values of this couple remain deeply rooted in our society and are expressed through the values of the EM Normandie Foundation, which promotes social inclusion and access to education for all.

‘The philanthropic arm of the school’
Philanthropy has been an essential element of EM Normandie since its very beginnings, driven by its founder, Jules Siegfried.
Jules Siegfried and his wife, Julie, were both pioneers of social change, shifting the boundaries in the fields of education, industry and women's rights.
Like them, the Foundation is committed to supporting access to excellent education for all. It believes that lack of financial resources should never be an obstacle to admission to EM Normandie. In addition, it sees academic excellence and high-quality research as powerful means of stimulating creativity and innovation.

150 years later, the career and generosity of Jules and Julie Siegfried remain the common thread running through the EM Normandie Foundation. They are its anchor.

The EM Normandie Business School Foundation under the aegis of the Fondation de France
The EM Normandie Business School Foundation was created on the 5th of December 2016 by the signature of an agreement between its founding members and the Fondation de France, which defines its purpose, its missions, its headquarters, the nature and amount of donations made by the founders, its governance, its duration and its terms of intervention.
The Fondation de France, France's leading philanthropy network, guarantees that the funds collected are used in accordance with its purpose. It currently houses 945 funds and foundations, around a hundred of which are linked to the Higher Education and Research sector. Its missions include developing knowledge, training programme and education, promoting philanthropy and encouraging initiatives of general interest.
It provides operational expertise in the legal, tax and financial fields. It records donations, issues tax receipts and keeps the accounts of the EM Normandie Business School Foundation.
As a Foundation sheltered by the Fondation de France, the EM Normandie Business School Foundation benefits from the advantageous tax treatment granted to foundations recognized as being in the public interest, with the range of tax reductions applicable to donations, in accordance with current legislation.

50 years
The Fondation de France was created in 1969, on the initiative of André Malraux and General de Gaulle. At the time, there were only 250 foundations in France, compared with 15,000 in the United States. Directly inspired by the American model of private philanthropy, the Fondation de France was created to encourage and manage all ‘initiatives of generosity’ from the public. The Fondation de France was conceived as an intermediary between the general interest and private funds, a truly modern tool for philanthropy.

The IDEAS label is a guarantee of rigour and transparency in the management of the funds raised. The Network's purpose is to help and share. It's also about contributing to the school's development, its reputation and its future, in whatever way we can. We can only benefit from that.

Change saves us time and performance! Societal developments that promote a mix of cultures and genders are essential to the future of our society! I like to know that my school is making progress...

By donating to the EM Normandie Business School Foundation, you are supporting a school that has constantly adapted to the modern world, that has always had an international outlook, that is far-sighted and looks to the future.

The Fondation de France label is a guarantee of reliability and professionalism, which is very much appreciated when it comes to contributing.

Promoting social diversity and increasing the number of scholarships awarded by EM Normandie Business School by including deserving students who, without financial assistance, would not have had access to our education is a noble objective that should be encouraged.

Setting up programmes of excellence to support particularly bright students helps to ensure the quality of future classes by attracting talented students. It's a virtuous circle that will benefit the school and its reputation.

Philippe-Jean Péron
‘As the new directors, we want to support a fast-growing school with alumni, students, their parents and all the school's partners. We are targeting support for scholarship holders, the promotion of entrepreneurial innovation with impact and academic research, for example, in the fields of shipping, associated logistics, managerial innovation and new farming methods.’
Our key commitments

Promoting equal opportunities and diversity by awarding scholarships to deserving students from all backgrounds who are in financial difficulty.

Promoting academic excellence, educational innovation and research by awarding prizes to professor-researchers.

Encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation, by supporting innovative projects that create value.

Philippe-Jean Péron
'As one of the major contributors who took part in the first fund-raising campaigns among ALUMNI and friends of the School, I hope that my Presidency will enable me to support EM Normandie Business School's strategic projects and its national and international reputation. Thanks to the School, I have been lucky enough to be able to follow my own path. I hope that together we can help our future alumnae and alumni to follow theirs!

BUILDING THE FUTURE TOGETHER!
The EM Normandie Business School Foundation is based on 5 fundamental values: Commitment, Solidarity, Sharing, Support and Transmission.
